[FAQ]
Smarter presentation, sound programme construction, simplified business
management, and more time to grow your business or have a life were the key
drivers for a new trainer software package that's having its Australian
launch at June's Australian Fitness Expo in Sydney

physique® is the brainchild of Wellington
personal trainer Chris Day. It’s a PC-based
client management, exercise programme, diary and cashbook
package designed for trainers, physios and other exercise
or rehab professionals.
“I was sick of fronting up to company
CEOs with my stick figure diagrams and handwritten
programmes. The presentation detracted from
the value of my services (and restricted what I could
charge for them),” says Chris. “I was
also aware how much time client admin was taking when
I could be taking on more clients or doing other things
depending on my priorities.”

So Chris conceived what has become physique®.
With business advice from his partner (and lawyer/accountant)
Claire, and the IT work coming from her programme designer
brother Aaron, Chris has developed a software programme
that will assist trainers in providing a high value
service using the latest technology.
“I wanted a simple tool that supported
and fitted in with how trainers work. It
had to be easy to use and provide a real benefit to
both myself and my clients.”
physique® has five main work areas:
 |
Clients: each individual client file records their personal data,
including current and existing programmes and notes. Client birthdays
are automatically copied into your schedule to help with relationship
management.
|
 |
Schedule:
allows you to keep track of your daily schedule, just
like an electronic diary.
|
 |
Exercises:
holds the expandable database of over 600 contemporary
exercises and stretches, each with a high quality
photo, cues and intensity level. You can add your
own exercises, or edit/delete the existing ones.
|
 |
Accounts: keeps track of your daily cash flows, and creates reports to
help manage your money. Client payments recorded in their personal file
are also reflected in the running cash book, which you can use to record
running expenses as well.
|
 |
Settings:
Alter your personal settings and print out options.
A one touch back-up function lets you keep a back-up
copy on your hard drive or burn it to disc.

“Navigation is all point-and-click or click-and-drag
and intuitive for anyone with previous PC windows
experience,” says Chris
“The database is fast to use, but also has a
full range of exercises that I might use with my clients,
instead of falling back on a narrow range of familiar
exercises, machines or programmes.”
Chris’s preference for contemporary functional
exercises is reflected in the database, but he has
also included most traditional exercises and equipment
seen in a gym today.
“But
the trainer has total flexibility
to edit the descriptions or pictures, or add their
own exercises to the database,” says Chris.
The user can also add their personal logo and contact
details to the programme template.
Completed programmes can be printed out, or e-mailed.
physique® comes with a “lite”
version that can be installed on a handheld Palm PDA
. “This means I can use the software in a portable
format on my Palm, and then hot-synch it back to the
PC.”
physique® is a single user software programme.
